Raspberries - Book of Firsts

The first year we have had enough to make a small bowl full.
Exciting!

One place many elements: our animals

Our six week old  Appleyard ducklings

William - our 6 year old pet dwarf-lop rabbit

Millie  - fully raised on our farm and much loved.

Elsie - Millie's sister jumping around with the chickens.

Our chickens - we have 10.

Our fish - keeping the mosquitoes under control in our edible plant water                                              garden.

William again - isn't he gorgeous

The first in The Book of Firsts

Honeysuckle

First fragrant blooms this week, having honeysuckle in my own garden is the fulfillment of a childhood dream.

The big picture

A tour of our suburban block - the lovely and the not so

A beginning

An attempt to record our progress towards producing some of our own food on .18 of an acre - much of which is our home - in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. We have a variety of spaces on our property: places for growing annual vegetables, fruit trees and perennial food plants, roses, herbs and ornamental trees and shrubs; and housing animals: some spaces are sunny, some are shady and others in between. My practice is informed by a scant knowledge of permaculture, by a love of truth, goodness and beauty; and a passion to heal the land.

A view from our family room window on a sunny autumn morning this year.
